On May 21, 2025, Charles and Lauren Price, together with Charles’ son Isser Benjamin Price, visited the Judaica Suite to sign a gift agreement honoring Charles’ father, Sam Price. The gift was made on behalf of the Price family and will endow the position of the Sam Price Family Curator of Judaica and Hebraica.
In 1977 Sam Price (1926–2021), together with his younger brother Jack Price (1928–2016), established the original endowment that named the Judaica Library at the University of Florida in honor of their parents, Isser and Rae Price.
The signing was timed to coincide with what would have been Sam Price’s 99th birthday and the gift serves as a meaningful tribute to over forty years of his commitment to the Judaica Library and the Judaica Suite.
During the visit, the Price family was shown a selection of recent acquisitions, including rare and historically significant documents from Cuba and Latin America. Among them was a 1939 ship manifest listing the final group of Jewish refugees fleeing Nazi persecution who were permitted to disembark in Havana.
