2025 marks 100 years of Smathers Libraries. The libraries at the University of Florida are the largest academic resource system in the state, with six on-campus branches, affiliate branches across Florida, and high-density storage facilities.
Access is a pillar for the Smathers Libraries, ensuring opportunities for users to experience materials either in person or online. The UF Digital Collections showcase more than 500 collections, expanding on the 14 special collections housed in the Smathers Library building. The Smathers Library Greater Good episode aired on Friday, June 27 on WUFT, the PBS affiliate station for North Central Florida. The episode covered the Smathers centennial, the Smathers Library building and how the public can access the free materials.
“Greater Good” is a WUFT-produced half-hour series showcasing non-profit organizations in the North Central Florida community. Each participating organization leads the viewer on a journey of their organization’s history, their mission, their day-to-day community engagement and their impact on the community.
