The Marston Makerspace has officially reopened after being closed for the summer due to construction at the library’s Starbucks. Makerspaces are popular in libraries, allowing patrons to borrow equipment like sewing machines and soldering irons and utilize 3D printers. The Marston Makerspace is open to everyone, not just University of Florida students. Employees kicked off the new school year with a brand-new team of proficient makers with lots of energy to help visitors bring their creative visions to life.
The Makerspace had its re-opening event on September 2nd, which drew over 300 visitors into the space and featured sample projects and three different hands-on crafts. Marston Makerspace hours are Monday through Friday, 2pm-7pm. This space offers monthly Make and Take crafts and other fall semester events, like a collage night. Other events and updates are featured on their blog.
